2000AD is now Global!

The Galaxy’s Greatest Comic is now available for download! The 100pp Christmas prog will be available in PDF form to view on any format and we hope you enjoy.

To mark the launch, the 100pp prog is priced at $2.99, the same price as the 32pp prog which will be available weekly as of the beginning of January 2008.

Thank you all for your feedback so far, and we’d love to hear your thoughts here on the forum on the Christmas prog and our overall service.

From everyone at Clickwheel, we’d like to wish you all Happy Holidays and a prosperous, and above all, exciting New Year!

Despite having a printed copy already I thought I’d give this a go. Excellent quality pdf and I’m glad to see tooth embracing digital delivery in such a fashion (unlike some other publishers). I’m looking forward to the eventual archive being launched later in the year.

I’m so glad this service is being offered! I considered subscribing to 2000 AD just a few weeks ago, but living in the US, the shipping costs were just too expensive for my budget. I love that I can get Dredd every week now, and I hope that enough people jump on the bandwagon for it to be cost effective for you guys to put the archives up.

You, my friend are just the kind of reader we’re trying to help out with this. we hope the bandwagon fills as well, and you all can help us. If you have friends who are into comics that have never read 2000AD tell them to give us a try!

I like what you’re doing here and I hope this becomes a big success.

After downloading Prog 2008, here are some things I’d like to see in future:

1.) the resolution of the comics bumped up a bit (maybe increase the pixel width to about 1200?)
2.) .cbr files available to download

Thanks again for this service.

I too am an American, I usually order 2000AD product through Diamond and get it through my local comic shop. So far it looks like this is exactly the right price I’m looking for in going digital (if all issues will be $2.99) My only problem is, like Wadew said, the image resolution is just too low. In order to read it well I have to keep it zoomed at 125%. This makes the art wash out a bit. And some of the text is even illegible unless you’re zoomed at 150% which makes the art look really pixelated.

I’m going to stick with the DL content, because I like your delivery system, and being able to get the issues weekly and only one week behind (usually I get two physical copies every other week and they’re a month behind their initial publication)

However I think I’ll continue to order the print copies for the rest of the year, because the art is at such a low resolution currently. If you could fix that, I could justify going to digital only.

This online subscription system happened just when I needed it to. I’m a Canadian and I’m sorely lacking any 2000AD at all. I’m so happy about this.

It’s a great affordable way to get an otherwise inaccessible comic. Just a couple observations.

1. The .cbr format that wadew mentioned above would be a good option. It’s designed for reading comics, whereas pdfs are just designed for images of printed material, no matter the type. Cbr just allows for easier zooming in and out and much, much easier page turning. Plus (and I may be wrong) but .cbr files are a lot smaller than .pdf’s.

2. Any chance of seeing Judge Dredd Megazine, or some 2000AD back issues in the future? Even the most recent year’s issues would be great, and in my case preferred! If for no other reason than to catch up on the story.

That’s all for now. The only thing left to add is thank you thank you thank you!

They should put up Meg 266 (another good jumping on point) and Extreme 26 up over the next two weeks during the end of year gap while we wait for Prog 1567.

Ever since an ancient Dredd story featuring a Genius kid who wanted to ban x-mas learned all he knew through an electronic book, I’ve dreamt of this happening!!! What can I say? Well having dabbled with the Ten seconders I had visions of the prog being presented pic by pic like a slide show. However I am pleased with the format that you have chosen (have widescreen laptop and can view two pages at a time) was double plus pleased to see double page pictures ie The Angel Gang appear better than they do in the actual paper published medium:) Perhaps others will call my loyalty to the prog stupid but I intend to still subscribe and buy online. I know this doesn’t convey a green manifesto but I think the price covers the cost of paper. I would also like to make a point to those who have never read a prog that Tooth (2000ad) has arranged things neatly in this prog for it to be an ideal time to jump on board. If Tharg notes appear I am certain questions concerning them would or could be answered by the small but dedicated army of fans over at 2000ad online msg board. Thanks and Kudos to Clickwheel for doing this in conjunction witht those kindly beings at Rebellion.

It wont download for me at all. Tried on 3 different machines and im still getting the same error. File is damaged and cannot be repaired. I think this is down to the fact that it launches the PDF instead of allowing you to open or save the file. Tried multiple times to DL and im hoping that I wont be charged for each attempt.
Again, I will say that these need to be in .CBR format as its vastly superior to PDF for reading comics.
Can we get a download option instead of just launching the file?

Thanks

Tried on 3 different machines and im still getting the same error.

Quick clarifying question – Were you using Windows and Firefox on in all three cases. There is a known issue with large PDF’s and Firefox that we are in the process of working around. We deeply apologize for the trouble you’re having.

To each his reach and if I don’t cop, it ain’t mine to have but I’ll be reaching for ya, cause I love ya – G.C.

Thanks all for the kind words.

Archives are definitely coming.

As for res, we’ll continue to press forward and improve things.

CBR’s: if demand for it continues, we’ll consider making it available.

You guys just keep telling us what what you want and we’ll do our best to make it happen.

Instead of just left clicking the link, try right-clicking it and selecting “Save Link As” which should get you the file. However if you’re using Firefox, the file you get will be an HTM file and not a PDF. But it’s still readable by Acrobat Reader if you open in manually. Then you can “Save a Copy” in Reader to get it into the proper PDF format. That’s what I had to do.

Im using windows and firefox yes. I was able to get it yesterday. I right clicked and “saved link as” then renamed the .htm file to .pdf and it worked.

Hi guys.

Australian reader here and VERY excited to see 2000ad move online. I really hope the Judge Dredd Megazine follows suit and the whole endeavor is a success!

However I’d like to echo concerns previously mentioned.

1) The resolution needs to be higher, I was quite disappointed by the image and text clarity.

2) PDFs are annoying and uncomfortable to navigate for comics. Free CBR readers like CDisplay for PC or FFView for mac are much more pleasurable to use.

3) It would also be easier to navigate the pages if they were only one page per screen. 2 page spreads should obviously be on a larger single screen, however single pages would work better on their own.

I really look forward to future issues and with a few improvements I’ll be sure to check in for my weekly Thrill-fix! Good luck and thanks!

Download fails, using Firefox on XP. Would vastly prefer if default action was to save file to disk rather than attempting to launch it.

This is brilliant. Finally I can get the thrill power I deserve. I would like to add to the comments about the resolution. I personally found it the most difficult to read Thargs blurb at the start of the book (and other items with that font size). I’m sure the great green one doesn’t want people to skip over his important text because they can’t read it :)

Also I do like cbr’s ever so much.

The resolution of the text in the next prog will be filly scalable.

And another vote for CBR duly noted!

This is fantastic, I too live in Oz, grew up in UK & have been reading since prog.1. Now I don’t have to be 3 months behind everyone else !
Only 1 question, when’s the next issue due ??
Cheers !

The next issue drops tomorrow (January 9th) and then we’ll have a new issue every Wednesday thereafter until we hit the Christmas break again. I’d say don’t miss it but because all of our comics are always available that would be crazy-talk. Instead I’ll say: Be the first on your internet to get a copy!

Oh, and we’re working on previous editions as well so before too long you’ll be able to get the thrills of days gone by too!

Got to say I’m impressed with this second issue. The text issue has been completely resolved and I’m pretty sure you bumped the resolution a bit as I can now read it at 125% zoom without seeing any pixelation or fuzziness.

Aces

However, it’s still Downloading as an HTM file on Firefox and I still needed to resave it as a PDF.
